A Beginner’s Guide to Decorating with Plant Life

Any interior designer who’s been staying up to date with trends will tell you that bringing the vibrant feel of plant life indoors is all the rage this year. And now that summertime is here, there’s no better season to explore your options with indoor greenery. Bringing that rustic, natural element indoors is a great way to seasonally update and to add some additional energy to any room.

If you’re an aspiring interior designer and want to open your own legitimate business, consider looking into our online interior design course. You’ll watch over 13 hours of HD video instruction featuring the professional designers on our staff, plus complete a series of design projects will help you master the skills necessary to make the most out of any space. Not only that, we’ll teach you how to work with clients, from pricing and contracts to purchasing and scheduling, so that by the time you finish the program you have the business skills to be successful.

Getting started with simple projects like this one is a great way to explore your eye for design further, and to make sure it’s a field where you could see yourself thriving and enjoying yourself professionally. For now, check out these recommendations for adding fun, vibrant plant life to your home:

1. String of Pearls -

This is a great choice to hang from a basket somewhere up high, like a lonely corner of your kitchen. The vines grow long and thin and will overflow from the basket and hang down in an exciting display.

2. Kentia Palm -

This is a great pick if you’re looking for a tall, leafy, exciting looking plant to pot in a corner. If there’s a lifeless blank space next to the couch in your living room or the desk in your home office, adding a potted Kentia Palm is a wonderful method for adding height and aesthetic appeal.

3. Snake -

This choice is similar in functionality for filling a small floor space like we mentioned above, but might be the wiser pick if the width available is slightly smaller. These leaves grow straight up and don’t branch out or overflow as much as the Kentia Palm’s, so you won’t have to worry about them getting in the face of anyone seated on your couch.

While we’ve all noticed the rise of tiny tabletop succulents in recent years, if you’re an aspiring interior decorator we highly recommend experimenting with these bigger decorative options as well.
