The Best Spring 2018 Jewelry Looks

2018 fashion month in New York and London opened our eyes to some stunning jewelry trends worth keeping your eyes on this season. As aspiring designers, it’s important to stay up to date with these new trends. Whether or not the looks are your particular taste or inspire your own designs, it’s helpful to know the market.

This year, it was all about making a statement. From asymmetrical earrings to daringly trendy ear cuffs, these were bold looks that really stood out. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite styles:

Here’s a great example of a uniquely executed asymmetrical look. The designer, Simone Rocha, made a playful move to contrast the fresh modernism of mismatched earrings with the more traditional choices of silver and pearl.

Statement necklaces were wildly popular about 5 years ago, and this season they seem to have made a comeback- with a twist. The statement looks we remember from the early 2010’s were much different than the 2018 pieces we noticed this year. Back then we saw lots of symmetrical pieces covered with stones and jewels (like this).

This year, the looks we saw were similar to the earrings mentioned above. They had that artistic, contemporary asymmetry to them. This piece in particular was featured in Peter Pilotto’s collection.

Another twist on the asymmetrical earring style, this model (seen walking in the Zimmermann show) and many others throughout the week donned just one bold earring, leaving the opposite ear bare.

When it comes to incorporating this look in your own designs, consider the importance of helping your buyers style it. It’s unusual to see one sole earring for sale, and your shoppers might be hesitant to rock such an usual look. Consider checking out more runway snaps such as this one, and displaying them alongside your own creations. That way, your shoppers will have the style inspiration and confidence they need to buy their own pair and try out this trend on their own.
