NYIAD Launches Home-Study Writing Course

The New York Institute of Art and Design (NYIAD) today launched their home-study course, The Complete Course in Fiction & Memoir Writing.

The Complete Course in Fiction & Memoir Writing was developed by published authors who have shared a wealth of knowledge on writing style, finding your voice, plot and character development, and getting published. It is designed for people with no background in writing, or writers who want to take their skills to the next level and even publish their work. The six unit home-study course allows writers the freedom to work on their own time, and at their own pace.

As with all of NYIAD's courses, every student will have access to both a personal student advisor who is available by phone or email, and an instructor, both of whom are published authors. In addition to the course materials and comprehension tests, students will submit a variety of writing projects that will be hand evaluated by their instructor. By the end of the course, each student will have had up to 60 pages of their work reviewed and critiqued by a published author.

"The kind of feedback writers will get in this course is invaluable," said NYIAD's Director Chuck DeLaney, "and the goal of each one of our instructors is to improve the quality of writing for each student as they move throughout the course towards their goal, whether that be continuing to write as a hobby or getting publishing."

The writing course was developed with the help of many gifted authors, who are featured on audio CD’s sharing their wisdom and advice as a part of the course. The lead writer for the Fiction & Memoir Writing Course was Sarah Van Arsdale, an award-winning author and writer for the New York Institute of Art and Design.
