NYIAD Unveils New Video Tutorials for Interior Design Course

The NYIAD is extremely proud to announce the introduction of new video tutorials into its Complete Course in Interior Design. The new video features expert Interior Designers, and replaces the existing DVD’s in the course for all new and existing students. This major course update makes the interior design course fully up to date with the latest trends in the interior design field.

The videos feature some of the top East coast interior designers, including AD 100 icon Penny Drue Baird (a rare treat visiting with her in her French-style NYC townhome), Susan Slotkis (author of a top textbook in the field, Foundations of Interior Design), Irwin Weiner (South African designer whose work has been widely published), Catherine Cleare (a Connecticutt-based interior designer known for her notoriously fun Harley cycle trips!), Judy Sheridan (author of How to Work with an Interior Designer), and Nicola Chernicoff (video co-host and a young British designer who learned from some of the biggest names in the industry).

This is a huge step forward for the NYIAD’s flagship course. For a long time, the interior design industry had looked down on home-study courses. But now, some of New York’s leading interior design experts are contributing to make the Complete Course in Interior Design the premier home-study training program in the field.

The DVD series, which contains more than ten hours of programming, also take students into top antiques showrooms in Lambertville, NJ, one of the antique capitals of the U.S., as well as giant Center 44 and 1stDibs (the largest online antique dealer network) in Manhattan. The videos also include a showroom visit with kitchen-and-bath expert Dave Burcher, a workroom visit to noted British antiques restorer James Curran, and a house tour of a new multi-million-dollar staged home with Westport, Connecticut realtor Julia Broder.

"There's nothing more valuable for interior design students than being able to hear successful professionals discuss how they broke into the business and hear their advice on a variety of critical practices,” said Jay Johnson, Lead Curriculum Developer for the NYIAD and co-host on the new videos. “Our new video series brings some of the finest interior designers into the student's home, along with top furniture vendors, antique dealers, and industry experts. We think the fun and excitement we had talking to these great pros shows through in the finished DVDs, and each DVD is packed with surprises and bonus features."

Graduates of the course and existing students wishing to receive these new DVDs can purchase a full set directly from the school for $45 plus shipping and handling. Any interested graduates should contact the school directly. Review copies are also available to the media upon request.
