Emily has worked in the wedding and event planning industry for nearly a decade, coordinating events with a wide spectrum of budgets and client needs.

“Volunteer! Look for a non-profit that you’d like to support by contributing your services. Often, these organizations hold charitable events to raise money for their efforts. Contributing to that via free event coordination can definitely provide great experience for your resume, open many networking doors for you, all while supporting a great cause. Use this chance to practice your skills while doing a good thing!
I volunteered with The American Heart Association for their Heart Ball, which recently raised over $800,000. You can imagine the contacts I was able to make through my involvement. When you consider that value in addition to the experience I gained planning a massive charity gala including silent auction, live auction, multiple live performances, and a sit-down dinner, it’s easy to see how this benefited not only the charity, but my own personal confidence as a capable and proficient planner.”
