The Best Flowers for Summer Bouquets

Nothing adds an awesome pop of summery spirit to a client’s home like a fresh, seasonal bouquet. As an aspiring floral designer, one of the first things you should do is to determine which flowers are more appropriate, inexpensive and practical to work with depending on the time of year. This summer, here are some of our favorites:

Aster-

These are an awesome choice because of their hardiness. They’re tough, strong perennials that look amazing all throughout hot summer months and continue to bloom straight through Autumn as long as the wilted ones around them are pruned. Therefore, they tend to be a more inexpensive pick for summertime. You’ll start to see them popping up more around June, usually sold in big 1 gallon cans. If you’re interested in growing your own, you can plant them from tubers. They have an awesome summery look to them, and sort of look like colorful daisies- you can typically find them in lavender, pink, or white.

Gloriosa Daisy-

These stems grow nice and long, making them an awesome choice for statement bouquets presented in an elegant, stand-out tall vase. They can actually get to be anywhere from 3 to four feet tall in length, so you have plenty of room to work with depending on how long a vase you’re looking to fill. The beautiful, classic golden colored petals get to be about 2 to 4 inches wide. If you’re looking for a shorter version of this plant but with the same looking flower, check out other varieties such as the Goldilocks or the Toto. They only grow to be about 10 inches tall!

Dahlia-

These are one of our favorite choices for a summertime bouquet because they’re always available in such a large range of super-vibrant colors. They have almost tube-shaped, thicker stems, and lovely, feminine looking blooms perfect to use in residential arrangements for a touch of femininity and outdoor energy.
