  • Unit 2

Unit 1 AutoCAD Basic Commands

  • Lesson 1.1 Getting Started with the AutoCAD Environment

In Lesson 1.1: Getting Started with the AutoCAD Environment, you'll learn about the fundamental elements of the AutoCAD environment, including the drawing window, profiles, custom workspaces, customized panels, and help features.

  • Lesson 1.2 View Commands

In Lesson 1.2: View Commands, you'll learn about the different ways you can view drawings in AutoCAD. You'll become familiar with AutoCAD's PAN command and ZOOM options and learn to customize your workspace by modifying the View Ribbon. You'll also learn how to create, name, save, and restore different drawing views and how to add multiple viewports to the drawing window.

  • Lesson 1.3 Drawing Commands

In Lesson 1.3: Drawing Commands, you'll you’ll be introduced to the commands used to draw objects, starting with a simple line drawing. Then, you'll be introduced to additional commands for drawing and editing complex objects that can be made up of multiple lines, circles, or arcs, but are stored and manipulated as single entities. Finally, you'll learn to set up macros, which can be used to save time when creating a drawing.

  • Lesson 1.4 Modifying and Selecting Objects

In Lesson 1.4: Modifying and Selecting Objects, you'll learn about the various commands that can be utilized to modify and select objects. These commands include the MIRROR, OFFSET, TRIM, EXTEND, and STRETCH commands.

  • Lesson 1.5 AutoCAD Basic Commands Graded Project

In Lesson 1.5: AutoCAD Basic Commands Graded Project, you'll use the knowledge you've gained from previous lessons to create a drawing using basic AutoCAD commands and settings.

Unit 2 AutoCAD Advanced Functions

  • Lesson 2.1 Object Properties, Drafting Settings, and Object Snaps

In Lesson 2.1: Object Properties, Drafting Settings, and Object Snaps, you’ll learn about object properties and how to control object settings using the Object Properties toolbars and the Properties and Match Properties commands. You'll also be introduced to the Layer Properties Manager and the Drafting Settings dialog box and learn more about Object Snaps.

  • Lesson 2.2 Dimensioning and Text Tools

In Lesson 2.2: Dimensioning and Text Tools, you'll be introduced to AutoCAD's many dimensioning capabilities. You'll learn how to use the DIMLINEAR and QDIM commands and discover how to add dimensions to nonlinear objects such as angles, arcs, and circles. Finally, you'll learn to add text to drawings using the TEXT and MTEXT commands.

  • Lesson 2.3 Blocks, Templates, and Attributes

In Lesson 2.3: Blocks, Templates, and Attributes, you'll be introduced to the many AutoCAD features that enable collaborative work. You'll learn about drawing templates, titleblocks, groups, and blocks. Finally, you’ll learn about how you can use attributes to attach specific information to blocks.

  • Lesson 2.4 Viewports, Layouts, Plotting, and Utility Commands

In Lesson 2.4: Viewports, Layouts, Plotting, and Utility Commands, you'll be introduced to the various features associated with plotting or printing drawings, such as drawing layouts, viewports, and plot settings. You'll also learn about various utility commands, including Area, Quick Measure, Distance, Find and Replace, and Spell Check.

  • Lesson 2.5 Introduction to Isometric Drawings and 3D Modeling

In Lesson 2.5: Introduction to Isometric Drawings and 3D Modeling, you'll learn about about two different methods for presenting drawings in three-dimensional (3D) formats: Isometric Drawing and 3D Modeling. You'll also learn how to create traditional isometric drawings and 3D modeling files in AutoCAD.

  • Lesson 2.6 More 3D Modeling Techniques and Commands

In Lesson 2.6: More 3D Modeling Techniques and Commands, you'll be introduced to methods that allow you to present your drawings as photorealistic images and animations. You'll also learn about the RENDER command, the Set Location tool, walkthroughs, and flythroughs.

  • Lesson 2.7 AutoCAD Advanced Functions Graded Project
